The Canberra Model Railway Club Inc. (CMRCI) is a not-for-profit organisation, dedicated to having fun with model railways. This is our 60th year of operation in the ACT. We have no particular bias to any scale, however in practice most of our members model various prototype in HO, and this is the basis of our club layouts.
Membership
New members are very welcome. Your level of ability or experience will not matter as we are willing to share our knowledge and skills. We also invite you to contribute to our knowledge of our great hobby.
Annual General Meeting Wednesday 21 August 2020
Breaking News — The CMRCI has reopened after the CoViD-19 Lockdown.
FROM THE PRESIDENT
I know that the number of CoVid-19 cases in Vic and NSW is growing and there have even been a few cases again in the ACT.
The Committee has discussed this issue and decided that we will keep meeting, until the ACT Government decides to change the restrictions. With this in mind I would urge anyone who has any contact with visitors from Vic or NSW, whether direct contact or by association, not to come to the Club for a minimum of three weeks.
Remember that the vast majority of us are in the group which is most at risk and we cannot afford to be exposed unnecessarily.
Stay safe and well.
Expo 2021 should be held in 2021 – but maybe later in the year.
Sad News – please open the January 2020 Club Bulletin
Meetings
We meet in a dedicated Club House Room located at The University of Canberra High School (Kaleen) at 104 Baldwin Drive, Kaleen. See the images at the bottom of this page.
- We meet on the first and third Wednesdays of every month, from 7:30PM to about 9:30PM. At our meetings, we hear from speakers on modelling related topics plus a Show n Tell and current club topics. We also work on or operate the Club layout.
- The club rooms are also open each Tuesday morning from about 9.30AM to approximately midday. Those who are able to attend on Tuesday mornings assist with constructing club projects, run trains, or simply have a good yarn. Tea and coffee are also on the agenda.
- After the Tuesday morning sessions, all attendees are invited to attend a lunch at the local Takeaway at the main Kaleen Shops
In addition, there are occasional working bees on weekends plus visits to other Clubs, museums, Members’ layouts, etc. as the Members wish. Please contact us for details of our next meeting.
